Faced with the challenge of managing a historic structure not built for modern energy demands, researchers deployed compact, light-powered sensors to track temperature and occupancy at room level. The data was analysed to fine-tune heating schedules, significantly improving efficiency without major structural changes. The takeaway is clear: smarter systems don’t always require bigger infrastructure, just better data.

Meeting Rooms That Manage Themselves
As hybrid work reshapes office culture, managing shared spaces has become a daily friction point. AI powered room booking systems are stepping in to remove that friction. These systems don’t just schedule meetings. They predict usage patterns, suggest the most suitable rooms, and automatically release spaces if no one shows up. Sensors confirm whether a room is actually in use, ensuring valuable space doesn’t sit idle. Over time, the data collected offers deeper insights. Companies can see which spaces are overused, which are underutilised, and how layouts can evolve. It turns real estate decisions from guesswork into something far more precise.
